Helen was born in Blaina and comes from many generations of mining families. She was the only person in her family to go onto tertiary education and obtained a law degree from Leicester University. She was the first female tenant at 30 Park Place, Barristers Chambers in Cardiff. She is presently the resident family judge for Gwent. She has a keen interest in children’s rights and equal opportunity for all structures of society, particularly through the education process.
